Alternate Method of Manufacturing Extrusions

Previously, several manufacturers from various industries approached Quadro to solicit their assistance in locating alternative methods for producing extrusions without having to purchase additional machinery. In one such case, a major chemical manufacturer was looking for an economical means by which to create cylindrical-shaped particles from a high solids mixture. After pre-mixing the components in a standard mixer, a thick cement-like slurry was charged through the inlet of the Comil®. Once they reached a critical length the “extrusions” exiting the Comil screen dropped by gravity, away from the screen. The size of the extrusion was dependent on the screen type, impeller selection, impeller speed and formulation. Accordingly, the customer was able to use the versatile Quadro® Comil® as both an extruder and size reducer.

The Quadro Comil is constructed of stainless steel. Ten (10) models are available providing capacities from lab scale capability up to 100,000 lbs/hr (45,454kg/hr) or 1666 lb/min!
