Overcoming Corrosive Chemical Wear in Milling

An international manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) approached Quadro to manufacture a conical screen cone mill to be used in their large scale organics (LSO) manufacturing facility. The facility regularly used very corrosive chemicals and solvents in the production of APIs and therefore, conventional equipment manufactured from standard stainless steel corroded over time.

To overcome the effects of the corrosive environment, a Comil was manufactured from a special corrosion resistant alloy - Hastelloy®. Through its many years of experience, Quadro has developed and mastered techniques to work with Hastelloy® and has produced numerous units with this specialized material. Quadro met the needs of the manufacturer by producing a Comil that was chemically corrosion resistant and compact in size, while retaining the attributes of the Comil that the customer needed at their facility including low heat, noise and dust.

To meet customer needs worldwide, ten (10) fully scalable Comil® models are available for a variety of applications. Depending on the product, capacities can range up to 54,500 kg/hr (120,000 lb/hr). Meets all international safety standards including OSHA, CE, and ATEX.
