Dispersion of Pearl in Binder Laden Blush and Face Powder

Background / Requirement

 

After dispersing the binder (mineral oil) in the blush and face powders, pearl is added to the mixture in a blender. This is the last step before the product is compacted and packaged. The mill has to disperse the pearl without damaging the pearl.

 

Comil Performance

 

This finishing stage is an excellent application for the Comil. The gentle action of the Comil finished blending the pearl without damaging the pearl, at a high capacity rate and without excessive noise and dust. The Comil enhanced the glistening quality of the pearl. This allowed the customer to use less of the expensive pearl to achieve the same quality. This was not possible with their pulverizer because a finer screen would have to be used on the pulverizer which would cause damage to the pearl.

 

Summary

 

The Comil provided an excellent dispersion of pearl at a much higher capacity, with much less dust and noise generated. The changeover time was improved by more than 50%. Additional cost savings were realized from the reduction in the quantity of the pearl used.
